Aren't FlightSuits really just bird diapers?
Yes & No! Most "diapers" are disposable - FlightSuits are not! The term "diaper" is laden with negative connotations: messy, smelly, constricting et al.; none which applies to FlightSuits; which are attractive and reusable, sporty, flexible! Plus - with the optional leash - they are much more!

Doesn't bird poop contact or stick to the bird?
No! The beauty of FlightSuits, and what made them "patentable" is that they safely contain the poop AWAY from the bird! Guaranteed to work!

Are FlightSuits reusable?
Yes! One of FlightSuits best features is they are indeed reusable - indefinitely!

How do I clean FlightSuits?
Easy! Because of the superior, lasting quality of fabric used to tailor FlightSuits, they need only be turned inside out, placed in a lingerie bag, hand washed & air dried in a couple of hours!

Are FlightSuits a "good match" for all birds?
Most, but not all. FlightSuits are ideal for "hand-tame" birds, who enjoy being with owners, out and about. STARTING YOUNG exponentially increases the odds for success. Key to success for any bird is closely following the conditioning strategies included in your purchase or read the question under our FAQ. Regardless, birds which interact well with others will likely welcome the freedom FlightSuits! provide.

Can I condition my bird for a FlightSuit?
Yes, most definitely. Some birds take to the suit without being conditioned. In order to maximize success when introducing FlightSuits!, it is suggested bird owners take the following steps in the conditioning process and you can also consiter getting a Basic Flight Trainer Suit:
Allow your bird to see the FlightSuit from a comfortable distance - so it may become accustomed to both the color and fabric.Minimum time:2 - 3 days.
Slowly and gradually (over time) move the FlightSuit closer to the bird and cage. This process will be quicker for younger birds (less than 5 - 6 months old); longer for older birds.Minimum time:2-3 days.
Pet or caress bird with the FlightSuit.Hang around cage, allowing bird to examine or explore the suit:Minimum time:1 - 2 days.
When you're mutually ready to "test fly" the FlightSuit, remove bird food for 2 - 3 hours - put suit on and immediately reward by giving a treat or feeding. This serves as a positive reinforce as well as distraction.
Use the following examples for positive reinforcement while birds are in FlightSuits:
Offer plenty of verbal praise.
Give favorite treats: peas, corn, millet spray.
Make for quality one-on-one time away from cage.
Treat bird to favorite toy.
Take bird outside for special outing.
Birds may nibble on elastic or Velcro until accustomed to the FlightSuit. This should diminish with time.

My bird is potty-trained. Why do I need FlightSuits?
We encourage potty training and admire those who can! Yet smaller potty-trained birds last on average only 15 - 20 minutes; larger birds only about an hour. FlightSuits exponentially increase the time even potty-trained birds may be out and about worry-free!

Won't birds chew through FlightSuits?
FlightSuits are very durable and guaranteed for workmanship. Some birds may initially be intrigued by and nibble at the Velcro; though most will not. This strip is the only part some nimble birds can reach. More common, we find birds so delighted to be out and about, thanks to the freedom FlightSuits offer, so they quickly forget they are on! Pet bird quality of life and disposition is enhanced.

What are FlightLiners?
By customer demand, convenient FlightLiners have now been added! Their purpose is to extend the "stay time" between changing. Please note that substitutes can not be guaranteed to do the 'job'.
Return to top of Page

While FlightSuits can last longer, we recommend they be changed every 4 to 6 hours. The unique design of the patented POOP-pouch allows easy monitoring. Newly available FlightLiners make changing even easier! Simply change the liner to extend the time between changing FlightSuits.

Absolutely! FlightSuits cover a portion of a bird - so they are still able to preen wings, tail feathers, legs, breast and neck.
Return to top of Page
Can birds still fly with FlightSuits on?
Yes! While we join experts in STRONGLY recommending wing clipping (for safety reasons), birds are able to fly in FlightSuits, as wings are in no way constrained (hence the name). We added attachable/detachable Lanyard and Anchorline leashes to help keep birds safely "grounded". NOTHING REPLACES CLOSE SUPERVISION BY OWNERS.

Return to top of Page
Do FlightSuits function as harnesses or "leashes?"
Yes! with our optional leashes! FlightSuits by themselves do not function as harnesses. BUT - due to customer demand we crafted the "LifeRing Adapter" which accommodates a leash/harness function, found in our attachable/detachable Lanyard or heavier AnchorLine leashes.
Return to top of Page
Are there other bird leashes or harnesses on the market?
Yes, two that we know of (in America) - but none with the Patented Poop Pouch!
Return to top of Page
Are there other bird diapers on the market?
There has been a couple of 'rip offs' made and while these may look very similar to the FlightSuits they are not. This can have a serious impact on the saftey of the product and you should always make sure the bird diaper you are buying is a genuine FlightSuit. FlightSuits are patented and developed for the saftey of your bird so you can trust the product. A bootleg product could be dangerous to use on your birds health. If you have any further questions please contact us.
